Wixx Marine Tar Black is a high-quality bitumen coating based on 1 component, enriched with carefully selected synthetic resins and specially developed for preserving metal structures. This unique composition ensures superior adhesion, excellent UV resistance and optimal viscosity. The product adheres excellently to aged tar and bitumen layers and therefore provides long-lasting protection. This ship tar is primarily used for internal and external preservation of metal ship parts, sheet piling, pier posts, houseboats, lock gates and other components that are alternately or permanently in contact with water.

Instructions for use
This ship tar can be easily applied using a brush, roller or spray gun. At a temperature of 20°C, the film is touch-dry after 4 hours and fully handleable after 8 hours. For optimal results, the application temperature should be between 15°C and 25°C. Note: do not apply the product when the temperature drops below 4°C. Therefore always ensure a dry, grease-free and dust-free substrate before starting. If necessary, the product can be thinned with our special thinner. Depending on the desired layer thickness, we recommend applying the product in 2 to 3 coats.
Application:
Wixx Marine Tar Black can be applied with a roller, brush or airless spray.
Important: when using airless spray, thin 5% with Wixx Turpentine/White Spirit.
Thinning/Cleaning:
For thinning or cleaning you can use Wixx Turpentine/White Spirit.
Primer:
For untreated surfaces we always recommend 2 coats of Wixx Ship Tar Black as this improves durability.
